“That’s one thing I liked, actually – there wasn’t a set agenda to any of our meetings. He just said, ‘What have you got on this week?’ And if that was the burning thing, then he’d delve into it with me, which was really good.”
“He’s very enthusiastic, but also no-nonsense. It makes you realise your business isn’t special. Everybody’s just buying and selling things. So he’s very good at simplifying, putting it back down to basics. You tend to say, ‘Oh, but that won’t work with us because of this and that.’ And he’ll say, ‘Why not? Why are you any different to anybody else?’ So whilst it can be uncomfortable, it’s a very good way of challenging you to think differently.”
