Entrepreneurs VS Aren’t-repreneurs -3 Proven Tips for a Successful Entrepreneurial Journey

Do you want to break free from working for ‘The Man’ and not have to answer to anyone? The idea of being your own boss is an exciting prospect but also a risky business. All entrepreneurs and business owners intend to grow their business and wealth, especially when we have the potential to do so. You can picture the image in your head: Your idea, your business, your name above the door – but can you picture an image of the journey you go on to get to that point?

Don’t be an aren’t – repreneur. Don’t feel as if you’re stuck in a rut, trapped in your business. Sometimes, things don’t go to plan or work out the way you would have wanted, you don’t always make the money you envisioned and you’re working longer, harder than if you were an employee. Don’t label yourself a failure or see this as an opening to give up. See failure as a positive. It’s less of a fail and more of an opportunity to bounce back and learn from the mistakes you may have made and move forward with a positive mindset and become an entrepreneur again.

Here are 3 tips to make sure you’re an Entrepreneur, not an Aren’t – repreneur

1. Set yourself realistic goals

Working towards achievable goals is the best way to start. What are your financial goals – do you have the right funding in place? How many clients do you want? Do you need employees, if so, how many? You might have visions of your business going global and turning over millions in the first year but you need your goals to be measurable and be able to see progression and growth – It’s a great thing to have dreams, but ensure these dreams are achievable. The more you achieve the bigger you can dream!

2. Put time-frames in place, what you want to achieve and by when

Set yourself time frames. If you know what you need done by a certain stage, you’ll be more encouraged to work towards that deadline to make sure you achieve your goals. Staggering things and setting hurdles allows you to take things slower and you’ll gain a good feel of life as an entrepreneur and if you are on the right path. If you decide the entrepreneur life isn’t for you, that’s fine as well. Don’t see it as a failure, see it as a learning curve and another step forward. It’s fine to readjust and rethink your time frames as well, they’re just a useful organizational tool to have in place.

3. Surround yourself with the right friends – build a support network

Just like I say in my book, True Gravity, having the right people and positive influences around you makes a world of difference – the right friends will always support you. Ask friends who own their own business for tips; what did they do when they were starting up? How do they achieve and maintain success? Maybe they will give you referrals or introduce you to clients or like-minded businesses. They will have the same energy and passion for your entrepreneurial journey as you have and encourage you on your journey to success.
